Meet Ryoka Kim
I became a psychologist to help those who are undergoing various life transitions. I work with adult patients through individual therapy to address stress management associated with relationships, careers, and serious illness. Being at a crossroads often invites us to go deeper within ourselves to discover our values and inner voice. With an approach based in the mindfulness and biopsychosocial perspectives, we’ll cultivate self-awareness and intentionality to achieve your goals through tangible and manageable steps.
Additionally, I specialize in addressing end-of-life concerns, including caregiver stress, family communication, and grief. Facing death brings various challenges, but it can also lead to a powerful experience of appreciation and meaning. Whether it’s about one’s own mortality or a loved one’s, I assist my patients to feel educated and prepared to deal with the transition.
Oregon always had a special place in my heart, ever since I spent a magical year at the University of Oregon as a Japanese exchange student. After 12 years of moving around the U.S., I finally found my way back and have been living in Portland since 2017. I enjoy traveling, a good cup of coffee on a foggy morning, and am passionate about cooking with plenty of garlic!
