Meet Jennie Jergerian
When I was young, spending time with family in the hospital, I would visit patients in nearby rooms and wistfully wish I could do something to alleviate their suffering. Long before I understood what therapy was, I felt deeply drawn toward helping people feel cared for, understood, and less alone during difficult times — something that continues to guide my work as a psychologist today.
Over the past 25 years, I've had the privilege of helping patients navigate many of life’s most vulnerable and transformative experiences. During my postdoctoral training and for the decade that followed, I worked within an integrated healthcare setting before spending another decade within a major hospital system. There, I provided psychological care to individuals from young adulthood through later life navigating a broad range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, grief, addiction, relationship challenges, and major life transitions.
One of the most meaningful experiences of my career was serving on a Consultation-Liaison team within the hospital alongside psychiatric medication prescribers and medical professionals. Working collaboratively within a medical setting deepened my appreciation for the powerful connection between physical and emotional health, particularly during periods of illness, hopelessness, grief, and uncertainty. Supporting patients during these deeply vulnerable moments strengthened my belief that meaningful psychological care begins with compassion, presence, and genuine human connection.
My approach to therapy is grounded in compassionate listening, thoughtful collaboration, and practical guidance. I draw from person-centered care, treating anxiety through mindfulness-based therapy, and evidence-based approaches including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I especially enjoy working with college students navigating career and life transitions, as well as adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or Bipolar II Disorder. My style as a psychologist is warm, collaborative, and grounded in kindness, while also making space for humor and lightness when appropriate.
Beyond the Practice
Outside of work, I enjoy rainy Pacific Northwest days with a good book, coffee, my dogs, and time spent exploring the Oregon coast. Yoga and community continue to be important grounding forces in my life.
How I Can Help
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in painful patterns, navigating grief or major life transitions, or seeking relief from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely understood, cared for, and less alone. Therapy is not about having everything figured out before you begin — it is about having a compassionate and collaborative place to explore what is hurting, reconnect with your strengths, and move toward meaningful and lasting change at your own pace. I offer both in-person therapy in Portland and telehealth appointments throughout Oregon.
