Meet Hannah Brassell

I knew my calling was to become a psychologist since middle school. Today I am grateful to wake up each day knowing I was able to make my dream a reality and that I have a job I am truly passionate about. Originally from the Midwest, I was drawn to the beauty and vibrancy of the Pacific Northwest and moved to Oregon in 2017. I fell in love with Portland while in graduate training and began to put down long-term roots here.

My clinical journey has provided me with diverse experience across various settings, including primary care behavioral health, community mental health, and college counseling. Working with individuals from different backgrounds has deepened my understanding of the unique challenges people face, allowing me to approach therapy with greater empathy and insight.

As a therapist, I take a holistic and individualized approach to understanding each person's unique challenges, drawing on evidence-based modalities like CBT, ACT, and solution-focused therapy. I also value the mind-body connection and incorporate this exploration into our work when it aligns with an individual’s needs and goals.

As a former all-state ski racer and competitive soccer player, I understand the unique challenges that can come with transitioning out of sport as well as the identity shifts that can follow. This experience feeds my passion for supporting individuals navigating performance anxiety as well as complexities of life transitions, especially individuals stepping away from competitive sports.

I believe that a strong, collaborative, therapeutic relationship is essential for meaningful change. My approach centers on creating a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered, with your goals guiding our work together. My aim is to help you build resilience and foster personal growth, and I am here every step of the way!

Outside of my work at Aspire, I love spending time cooking, gardening, paddleboarding, reading crime novels, and exploring the outdoors with my husband and our two dogs Virgil and Sophie.
