Meet Dana McPherson

Hi, my name is Dana McPherson. I’m a clinical social worker originally from the Midwest, with a journey to mental health that started in the creative arts. After earning my BFA from Wayne State University in Detroit, I spent years working as an artist and designer before moving to Southern California..

In California, I pivoted into personal training, working exclusively with women to help them discover their strength and feel more empowered. Over time, I realized the most fulfilling part of my work was in the conversations—supporting women not just physically, but emotionally and mentally.

That realization led me back to school to pursue a Master of Social Work from California State University Northridge, which I completed in 2020. I began my clinical career working in hospitals and hospice, providing support during some of life’s most tender and complex transitions. I later moved into therapy full-time, where I now have the privilege of walking alongside patients as they heal, grow, and move toward the life they want.

I’m a clinical social worker licensed in Oregon and California, and it’s truly an honor to do this work. Over the past several years, I’ve supported patients through some of life’s most difficult and transformative moments—whether they’re navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, family conflict, or deep questions around identity and self-worth. I’ve worked in hospitals, community clinics, and private practice, and each setting has strengthened my belief in the power of human connection and the importance of being truly seen and heard. I love working with people across all stages of life, from teens to older adults, and I bring warmth, respect, and deep compassion into every session.

In practice, I will meet you where you are—tailoring our sessions and treatment plan to reflect your specific needs, values, and pace. Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and joyful life—whether it’s improving relationships, getting “unstuck,” or healing from the past—takes real courage, and I deeply respect that. I’m here to support you as you explore what’s possible and find a better way to be.

I love what I do, and feel like I am exactly where I am meant to be. It is a privilege to work with my patients, holding space for them and their experiences. I am humbled by the opportunity to be a trusted ally to my patients.

Beyond the Practice
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me::

  • Taking long forest walks with my husband & our goofy rescue pup

  • Curled up with a good book—I’m a voracious reader

  • Tending to my ever-growing collection of houseplants

  • Exploring everything Portland has to offer—from trails to coffee shops
